After more than two decades of silence, Atlanta hardcore quintet Downpour returns to the stage, playing songs from their two official releases, No Lie Can Live Forever (Jawk Records) and Footsteps Over Our Heads (Alveran Records), the band will reconvene for a one-night-only event for a show with fellow Atlanta thrashers Turn Cold and Saddam Death Cave. All funds raised from the show will be donated to The AWARE Wildlfe Center, a group that seeks to rehabilitate Georgia’s injured and orphaned native wild animals, and educate the community about peaceful coexistence with wildlife. Active primarily during the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, Downpour was made up of members of former Atlanta hardcore mainstays Act of Faith, The Difference, Broken, Portrait, The Power & the Glory, and others but forged a path all their own, melding a wide range of musical and philosophical inspiration into a new and unique creation. Incorporating the urgent bombast of old-school bands like Burn and Judge with a more technical, metal-inspired approach, Downpour’s members created a sonic landscape all their own during their brief, but productive, time together. Having shared the stage with bands such as Earth Crisis, Vision of Disorder, Morning Again, Mastodon, American Nightmare, As Friends Rust, and many more, Downpour also spent time on the road with noteworthy acts such as Hatebreed and Converge. The lineup for this special show includes only past members of the band – no fill-ins or hired guns.
