Lucis Flux & the Resilience
Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Pete DeLorenzo
continues to write and perform songs that hover along the
fringes of Atlanta’s ever changing music scene under the
name Lucis Flux. After 11 adventurous years crisscrossing
the US and Europe and recording with Grammywinning
producer Ben Allen with A Fir-Ju Well/Gringo Star,
he ended his tenure with the band due to physical
problems in April 2012. He continues his Lucis Flux
musical output with the upcoming release of “Til the End of
the Night: The Revill Sessions,” recorded with composer,
engineer, and author, David Revill at the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County. This marks the third release
by Lucis Flux, following the 2015 release of “Illimite’ EP”
and 2014’s “No Weapons Held Against Thee Shall
Prosper.” Musically influenced in the rock and roll tradition
by the likes of Neil Young, The Replacements, and The
Pretenders, DeLorenzo’s songs contribute lyrically a
philosophical mix of the spiritual, social, personal, and
political, vacillating between the anthemic and the
abstractly nuanced. All Lucis Flux songs are available at
lucisflux.bandcamp.com.
K Michelle DuBois
The celebration continues for the vinyl release of Harness, the third solo release for K Michelle DuBois.
With a history of lending songwriting and vocals to indie bands like Ultrababyfat and Luigi, KMD also currently lends vocals to indie shoegaze band, Parsons Rocket Project. KMD emerged as a solo artist in 2012 with the lo-fi release of Lux Capone. Later joining forces with producer, guitarist, Dan Dixon, KMD released Astral Heart (2016) and most recently, the well-received Harness. With a stellar line-up that includes Dan Dixon (guitar), Jim Prible (bass), Chandler Rentz (drums) and André Griffin (magic keys), KMD brings her songs to life on May 11.
MammaBear
Recorded on 1” tape by tone-monger Cyrus Shahmir, of Atlanta’s psych-rock mainstay The NEC, MammaBear is a back-to-basics, reverb-heavy pop constellation that harkens to the “wall of sound” era of recording. The songs range from aggressive and messy (“Rodents,” “Something to Say to You”) to melodic and airy (“Birds of Paradise,” “Raven Falls”), but the common thread is a simple pop sensibility, interpreted through classic instruments and recorded through vintage means.
